Elderly woman in critical condition after Citi Bike van crashes into pedestrians crossing NYC street

An elderly woman is in critical condition after a Citi Bike van struck her and another man crossing the street in the Bronx on Sunday morning, according to police.

The 71-year-old woman and a 64-year-old man were crossing between Broadway and 225th Street in Marble Hill just before 10:40 a.m. when the crash unfolded, the NYPD said.

A 41-year-old man driving a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van attempted to take a left turn when he collided with the pair of pedestrians, police said.

Both victims were taken to St. Barnabas Hospital. The 64-year-old man is in stable condition, and the 71-year-old woman remains in critical condition as of Sunday night, cops added.

The Mercedes van had a “Citi Bike” decal on its side, the New York Daily News reported.

“This incident is unacceptable. Our thoughts are with the affected parties,” a spokesperson for Lyft, which operates Citi Bike, told The Post. “We’re investigating this report and stand ready to assist law enforcement.”

The 41-year-old driver stayed on the scene, and no arrests have been made as the investigation continues, cops said.
